to me it looks like they want to focus more on mobile gaming, i.e. ipads and iphones and keeping maybe one or two products as "creators device". I mean, mobile devices are now on a level that they can compete with a 2 year old macbook pro. mobile graphics is becoming a lot better these days. the macbook is growing increasingly unpopular amongst users because of its shortcomings of connectivity and the bad keyboard and the only real and supported buying suggestion by macrumors right now is the imac pro. so you can imagine where it's going from there: the macbook pro is going to lose its keyboard and eventually become the ipad pro. the imac and mac pro are going to be the only desktop macs which will be aimed at developers and desktop publishers. my take on this, but I am usually wrong.

I live near Amsterdam and I heard some folks around here repeating this saying over and over: „Heinecken is what a goat pisses out after drinking Amstel“
Although both beers are being filled in the same factory.

That said, I think I prefer Hertog Jan but all these Pilsener clones just get boring after a while. So I frequently cheat with local craft beer. Ijwit, Jopen, Uiltje, IPA‘s - nothing is too expensive. The Netherlands are no longer a country for Weed tourists but also a heaven for beer travelers.

love the uniqueness of your sound! I suppose this is the new state of things now. I was at a studio of a colleague recently (we were mixing the soundtrack for an upcoming short movie we were working on) and he does the final sound mix for a majority of dutch cinema productions. he had ipads everywhere in his studio - mostly as a remote. but it is also a great device to take your stuff with you, show around or just sketch and/or play with it. there is also "final touch" which lets you master your track when it's done. but you might want to connect your ipad to a good pair of headphones or loudspeakers before you start doing that ;)

The challenge this time was "Lucky" and animators around the world can submit their own take on the topic, sometimes with hilarious results. The clips are edited into a compilation and then screened in venues in Berlin, Los Angeles, Sydney and more (see Loopdeloop blog for dates).

Technique used: frame-by-frame stopmotion on paper. Plain oldschool. Curious side fact: in the middle of photographing all the paper frames, we ran out of perforated paper and had to use regular paper. This meant half of the frames needed to be adjusted manually in the computer to avoid too much jittering of the picture.

Animation: Hilde Buiter (www.hildebuiter.com), Sounddesign by me!

I‘ve been taking photo‘s as long as I can think. It‘s not so much a hobby to me and more a creative element of expression in my line of work (I am a composer and sound designer) – photography and video goes along with my creative process.

My first digital camera was a Nikon D40X which is long gone. My current camera‘s are:

    • Sony A6300 with 30mm and 12mm lenses
    • Minolta SRT with 50 and 28 lenses
    • Olympus Trip 35
    • Pouva Start (Medium Format Lomo Type)
    • Pentacon TL with 80mm lens
    • Yashika SLRs, Canon SLRs (Analog)
    • Lot‘s of more analog cameras

Which reminds me I still have to get rid of some, since I mainly only use 1 or 2 at the moment. But you know, I sometimes just can‘t hold still when I see a cool camera on the flea market ;)

My favorite camera is by far the pouva start. Even though compared to the near–perfect quality of the digital SLR it takes pretty crappy pictures, I still love the magical quality of this plastic camera. It was made in the GDR and even my dad had one when he went on vacation to bulgaria back in the 70s. The plastic turns brittle after a while and pulverizes in your hands. It‘s my second pouva now. Let‘s hope there are still a couple left on ebay the next time it dies ;)

Some photo‘s I have on redbubble:

to clarify: this is my girlfriend working on a project a while ago where she used a custom-built multiplane-rack to animate layers of cutout paper. The rack was built by ourselves. I am the sound guy and sometimes help with technical stuff in my girlfriends studio but mainly my task is to add music and sound effects to her animations :) website credit: http://www.hildebuiter.com/
