jkflying I believe that the USA is extraordinarily diverse, and trying to have one set of rules that works both in downtown NYC as well as the rural midwest is a recipe for trouble. There are places where the police will have over an hour response time, and telling those people they cannot defend their family from a meth-head who thought they look like easy meat is a great way to get them to call you an out-of-touch city-slicker. In rural areas, yes people do actually have hunting licenses for eg. deer, without which the deer would actually overpopulate and demolish the forest regrowth, since we've killed all of the natural predators.
However, once you have a high enough population density, I totally agree, safety is the police's job and hunting isn't a real past-time. In this case, regulate the hell out of guns.

jkflying I'm for it as well, but for another reason: social mixing. Having people from cities and country, rich and poor, all thrown together and forced to work together, is a formative experience IMO, and...I'm for it as well, but for another reason: social mixing. Having people from cities and country, rich and poor, all thrown together and forced to work together, is a formative experience IMO, and something I wish I'd had the chance to do.
And it doesn't have to be for military. It could be for park and nature conservation, coast/lifeguard, ambulance, elderly care. The important part is being forced to work together with people from other social backgrounds.

jkflying I seem to lift for around 3 months out of every 6. I notice back pain start creeping in and it re-prioritizes me to make some time in my schedule for squats, deadlift, cable pulldowns, bench, and...I seem to lift for around 3 months out of every 6. I notice back pain start creeping in and it re-prioritizes me to make some time in my schedule for squats, deadlift, cable pulldowns, bench, and a little bit of sprinting; usually about an hour and a half, 3 times a week. I get into a routine, manage to get back to my previous best plus a little, then something comes up in life and gym isn't critical enough to keep it regular anymore.
I never did any sports in school and am hitting 30 next year. Discovering lifting in early 20s completely changed my health and outlook on personal maintenance, eating and more. Given my lackluster commitment and propensity to back injury from a once-herniated disc I'm happy with my PR of 90kg/80kg/130kg 5x5/5x5/5x3 at 90kg bodyweight.
I'm hitting a point where I have time to gym again, so hopefully I'll be able to get to higher PR this time around, and maybe life will let me keep up my pace next year.
A couple things I have noticed on my 8 year journey of lifting.
- Creatine makes a huge difference in terms of making that final rep. It also helps me think more clearly.
- Casein keeps me full for longer than whey, and I notice less muscle loss with casein than whey when not training.
- Diet sort of just comes together once I start training. I crave the right foods, don't really feel like junk foods or alcohol, and body fat % drops pretty quickly. However, I've never had the time or discipline to properly track macros.
- When close to PR, taking the squat bar off and onto the shoulders is absolutely terrifying.

Then as budget allows get some cheap goggles (a $30 box pair) and a $100 drone (remember you also need batteries and charger!). Then again as budget allows upgrade goggles, and then drone.
If you are 100% hooked already skip the budget goggles and go straight to some Skyzone/FatShark/AOMway goggles in the $350 range. But you will crash that first drone (and badly), so don't spend too much money on it. Also that second pair of cheap goggles can be nice to have so other people can "ride along" when you are flying.
In Switzerland, depending on who you're with and where you go, anything between rounding up to the nearest 2 or 5 CHF, to tipping 10%, is normal.
South Africa 10% is normal, or more if the service is exceptional.
