Here are the brand new tracks from my Release Radar playlist that I'm liking so far:

Dua Lipa - Illusion - It's early, but I might like this the most out of her newer singles (almost as much as the Chloé Caillet Mix of Training Season! They're all great though, IMO)

Charli XCX - The von dutch remix with skream and benga - Fun, wub wub remix. Not sure yet how it compares to the original and addison rae/a.g. cook remix

St. Lucia - Love You Better - Solid indie electro-pop as always from St. Lucia

NOTD, Riley Biederer - Under My Breath - Fun dance pop

My thoughts are very similar, as a fellow big fan of Porter. I went on a huge pop-punk kick a few weeks ago and have been much more into pop in general in the past few years so it felt like this track was made for me, though! The high bit in the last 15 seconds or so of the song is my favorite in particular. I'm excited to see how the rest of the album shapes up!

He isn't. His party only supports left-wing economic policies for native born citizens, not immigrants, which doesn't seem very leftist to me. From a Guardian article about the election results:

“The PVV, of course, is not a party that is really leftwing when it comes to socioeconomic politics, but it is a party that is also when it comes to socioeconomics is not really rightwing … Wilders presents himself as there for the poor: it’s also what people sometimes call welfare chauvinism. So he argues that the people who have difficulties should be helped, but that is only true for what he calls ‘Henk and Ingrid’, the Dutch names that he calls his voters. And that’s not ‘Mohammed and Fatima’, so to speak. So it is welfare, but only for, according to him, our people.”

Sorry for the delayed response. According to "My Filters" the only one I have is the first set listed on that site. I must have added them once YouTube started blocking adblockers because it's my most recent entry. In my comment above I was referring more to custom filter lists, which are listed below if anyone's interested.

    My custom filter lists

    AdGuard Annoyances filter
    Anti-paywall filters
    Bypass Paywalls Clean filter
    Fanboy's Annoyance List
    Fanboy's Enhanced Tracking List
    Fuck Fuckadblock
    PUP Domains Blocklist

For the latter issue, make sure the filters in your adblocker are updated. For uBlock Origin, open the settings dashboard, go to filter lists, purge all caches, and update now. Once I did that, I haven't had any issues with YouTube. I do also have several custom filters enabled, so they may be helping too.

I loved the difficulty ramp too from what I remember, though I think I would have liked some even harder puzzles because I'm a complete masochist when it comes to puzzle games.

Then you should definitely play the DLC for it (Road to Gehenna), if you haven't. I've heard the difficulty ramps up significantly from the main game. I had enough trouble with some of the later levels for TP1 that I've never gotten around to the DLC, but I think I'll have to before diving in to the sequel.

I really hoped they would implement a bunch of quality of life improvements for sandbox builders like me but looking at reviews they have not done this, some of the things seem even worse in fact.

Jacobin has been hostile to degrowth or eco-socialist ideas in favor of eco-modernist or purely class-based analysis. This reddit thread has some discussion about their opposition to it, along with this one discussing one of Jacobin's more recent articles about degrowth. I thought this article linked by a commenter in the second thread offered a good critique of eco-modernism and presents its own interesting perspective. Personally, I can see the merits of both the degrowth/eco-socialist and eco-modernist schools of thought, though I lean more toward the degrowth approach.

CalyxOS is another option to consider, although your model seems to be on "Extended support" with them as well, as with Graphene. I've had good luck with LineageOS in the past. It's not always updated the fastest, depending on the model, but at least it gets updated. Since you say your phone is a secondary device at best, that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

This doesn't seem like a useful comparison at all. The power and influence of "radical Islamic fundamentalists" does not remotely compare to that of billionaires in countries like the US and UK. Because of their immense wealth, billionaires can directly influence politicians through campaign contributions, as well as society at large, given the significant influence of money in our societies. While the threat of "radical Islamic fundamentalists" is used more as an excuse for imperialist foreign policy and the curtailment of civil liberties than an actual threat to most people in the West. Also, I'm not sure why you single out Islamic fundamentalists when Christian fundamentalists have much more power in those countries, especially in the US, and especially when it comes to undermining LGBT rights.

A truly terrible loss. Hopefully the locals are able to come up with a fitting tribute, and the tree regrows in some form as they can after coppicing. If anyone wanted to read more, I thought this article from the BBC had some impactful quotes from local residents and visitors:

    A few quotes

Anna Charlton, who runs a tourist business within Northumberland National Park, described the tree as "an emblem".

"I'm weeping. This isn't just vandalism, it's an attack on nature," she said.

    [...]

Visiting the site, North of Tyne mayor Jamie Driscoll said he could not express his anger.

"People have had their ashes scattered there. People have proposed there. I've picnicked there with my wife and kids. It's part of our collective soul," he said.

    [...]

The Woodland Trust conservation charity, which organises the Tree of the Year competition, called for "better legal protection" for "living legends".

The organisation's Jack Taylor said: "This is incredibly devastating news. A tree of this age with its gnarly parts has built up a complex ecosystem over many many years and is a truly irreplaceable loss.

Edit: It sounds like I was right on the money about coppicing. It will still take 100+ years for the tree to get anywhere near the size it used to be, though. But, as the professor quoted at the end of this article notes, maybe this is a chance to grow a whole forest in its place.

Good note about light therapy lamps. I think I remember reading in the instructions for mine that you shouldn't look right at it and instead use it as ambient/background light.

Regarding the difference between lumens and lux, a search online gave me this:

Lumens is a measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted by a light source.[1][2] Lux measures the intensity of light within a given area and takes into account the area over which the luminous flux (measured in lumens) is spread, so 1 lux is equal to 1 lumen per square meter.[1][3] For example, a light source emitting 1,000 lumens concentrated into an area of one square meter would produce an illuminance of 1,000 lux.[1]

    1. Lumen (unit) - Wikipedia
    2. Lux vs Lumens - An Automotive Lighting Guide
    3. Lux - Wikipedia

It sounds like lux is the more useful figure.

I used to use both of the the apps you mentioned, but I think all modern operating systems now have a built-in "night light" mode (usually under display settings). I know Windows 10 and Android have had it for several years. The built-in versions probably offer better performance than third-party solutions, though they're not as customizable.

A few more tips related to light:

    • A light therapy lamp can help in regulating your circadian rhythm if you have to get up early or for the dark winter months (helpful for seasonal affective disorder).
    • A well-fitting sleep mask can help if you can't get your bedroom perfectly dark or you work off hours. This one has been working well for me.
