I have a very small amount of experience with watercolors—I could get away with my sloppiness by using ink pen sketches and painting over them aka "line and wash" and the resulting mistakes had a cute look to them. With gouache it was very gauche & the mistakes were NOT endearing...

pjmoriarty If you are ok with non-English lyrics, Mid-air Thief is pretty great IMO. Some others: Parcels is an up-and-coming funk/pop band that's worked with Daft Punk. They have 2 very solid and mature...If you are ok with non-English lyrics, Mid-air Thief is pretty great IMO.
Some others:
- Parcels is an up-and-coming funk/pop band that's worked with Daft Punk. They have 2 very solid and mature albums out atm
- MGMT has made some very interesting indie and psychedelic rock that diverges from some of their earlier electro-pop hits
- Mac Demarco has dominated indie music lately.
- BADBADNOTGOOD is a nice jazz group. Mostly instrumental with occasional guest singer's

Devil's advocate, the same could have been said for expensive phones 20 years ago, but the financing these days has made it where people who can barely pay rent have $1000 iPhones. I was one of those people 6 years ago.
