It's like a not sad Wolf's Children and not sad The Shape Of Voice. Nostalgic and wistful yes but not sad.

For me, the main story is a coming of age and extremely slow burn romance story. :)

last week's episode about Himmel's ring. My heart!!! He knew exactly what the ring meant and he wanted Frieren to have it. His action was probably incomprehensible to her at the time......

She was just too young emotionally to understand.

And I think if I think of Frieren as a very young elf many things start to make sense: cloth melting potions are harmless and funny, not sexual; mimics are dark and scary but there's a small miniscule potential for a Kinder Surprise present at the end so it's worth it; her being very sleepy in the morning; her blowing a kiss towards Himmel but not understanding why it knocked him out.....

It's a beautiful story of a missed connection. It was only ten years, when she didn't yet understand. I love how the entire story is framed as "X years since Himmel died": it's like a young teen girl's diary entry, "X days since I last saw that funny boy at the mall".

Frieren has been getting a lot of praise, and your enthusiasm is what got me to finally try an episode. It has a lot of potential! Coming from studio Madhouse it's certain to deliver visually.

The character of Frieren is bland and robotic (intentionally, I'm sure) and reminds me of how Violet Evergarden started out. Will be interesting to see how her character develops.

Thankfully the supporting cast so far are kind and supportive and willing to guide her growth.

Watched a bit more—it picks up a lot in episode 4 and is clicking with me now. It helps that Fern, the purple-haired girl, and Frieren's relationship has become a lot more natural and enjoyable to watch. And there's an actual story now.

    I’m considering watching Madoka though.
I finished Berserk as well around last week or two, so now I started Made in Abyss, unlike Berserk, I did watch the movie and anime of MiA so Manga is just to keep up with the story and apparently the manga goes over the relics and monsters better.
No idea what I’d read after MiA.

Frieren - got nothing to say that hasn't already been said. It's the new anime of the season if not year, though it has been a pretty good year.

The Apothecary Diaries - absolutely love this one, about a girl kidnapped and sold into service of a Chinese emporer. The MC is adorable, funny and intelligent. Each episode is sort of a murder mystery investigation revolving around poisons or other illnesses/strange behaviours. And it's a gold mine of reaction memes.

The 100 Girlfriends That Really Really Really REALLY Love Me - a harem parody of a guy that has to juggle his 100 soulmates he'll meet during HS. It's somehow manages to make this work without the MC coming off as a total piece of scum by making him genuinely wholesome and really caring about each of his soulmates equally. It's very funny if you can handle the lewdness.

Undead Unluck - MC is a girl with a special power of dooming anyone that touches her skin to skin, the more she cares about the person, the longer the contact, the more gruesome and dramatic their demise. She meets a person wanting to but unable to die and he wants to use her to find a way to kill himself. They end up joining a league of other people with abilities trying to prevent earth from being destroyed. The super powers have decent rules that make sense, a good amount of comedy and action.

Our dating story: The experienced you and inexperienced me - pretty mid story of the loser boy asking our the hottest girl in school and she says yes. It got its charm that keeps me watching.

The Eminence In Shadow s2 - just keeps on being an amazingly good isekai parody. The last aired episode where he's pretending to be sensitive while trying to convince Rose to be true to herself while noisely eating cookies when she's talking had me laughing out loud. Only because he wants to have an epic battle against her when she betrays him and becomes a tyrant. Or when he literally is playing in boss music on the organ during Rose's wedding. Pure gold.

Dr. Stone: New World pt2 love this show... Solve problems with science and minimal violence.

Goblin Slayer - slept on this when it first came out, and, oof, that first episode was really rough but they sure set the tone. QA

I started Psycho-Pass 3. The first episode was meh, but the second falls back into a familiar kind of groove from season 1, and I definitely like it better than season 2 already. The 45 minute long episodes makes it feel like serious business lol

I also watched some Blue Eye Samurai. It's violent and edgy, I see why people like it, it's all action!
