What have you been watching / reading this week? (Anime/Manga)

What have you been watching and reading this week? You don't need to give us a whole essay if you don't want to, but please write something! Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.

If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its pages on Anilist, MAL, or any other database you use!

So I've done a lot of bouncing around.

I'm caught up on the simulcast of Reincarnated as a Slime (<3).

To fill the void I watched Mashle on the recommendation of a friend. Very much enjoyed its humor and the fights. The OST is lit, and any anime that ties music in well with action sequences is a W in my book.

Once I watched both seasons, I tried watching The Daily Life of the Immortal King....

That show is so boring. Okay, cool, the MC is super powerful but of course there's a reason he can't use his power...

...But did he have to have less dialogue and depth than Plank from Ed Edd n' Eddy? Not to mention some plot holes that I won't get into. And the power system makes zero sense to me. People just seem capable of doing random things with their powers.

Soooo I'm slowly making my way through Fairy Tail at the moment.

    Chainsaw Man, Chapter 170

The last couple of chapters of Chainsaw Man have made me sad when I read them. At this point in the story, Denji has some simple, non-ambitious desires. But has no agency to pursue them, and is constantly surrounded by people who take advantage of him. And this week's chapter ends on a cliffhanger that throws a massive roadblock in front of Denji's wants.

I've also been increasingly convinced of the merit of my theory that Chainsaw Man pt. 2 metatextually comments on the impact the work has had on the author.
