I've been following a few shows this season, sequels like Re: Zero and Iruma-kun season 4, and some hyped manga adaptations like Yomi no Tsugai and Witch Hat Atelier.

So far though, the one I'm enjoying the most is Nippon Sangoku, a tale of 3 warring nations that formed after the societal collapse of Japan and one young man's journey to unite them. The art is bold, high contrast, and generally beautiful to look at. The important characters all stand out a lot by their personalities alone, though distinct character design is not lacking at all either. The storytelling is framed like a retelling of historical events, and the animation from small details to action scenes is high-quality. There are scenes with bloodshed and death, but if you're alright with that then I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Based on the title, I'm guessing that this is an adaptation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Pretty cool!

I'm reading the manga for this, and at the end of each volume, there's a big bibliography of texts the author had reference to (including books on culture, history, military tactics, philosophy, etc). They strike me as being really into the underlying material from feudal Japan and China!

My favourite part is how the characters often mix in colloquial speech from our present day, even in formal situations (since this technically takes place in the post-apocalypse future). Seeing that and other remnants from our modern day (and slowly discovering what happened to the rest of the world and why Japan has regressed to feudal times) is really neat and reminds me a bit of stuff like Boukyou Tarou.

Frieren was a very 'Slice of Life' style show, but still had cool action sequences and a good plot to keep it moving along.
Castlevania reminded me a lot of Invincible, but with a much more dark fantasy vibe.

If anyone has additional recommendations, I could use something new to watch!

    • Go For It, Nakamura-kun!
    • Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, 1st Gig

GitS:SAC is just one of my semiannual or maybe even seasonal, at this point, rewatches. Often just turn it on for some background noise since I've seen all of SAC so many times, but then I actually end up watching it because it's so good.

I'm currently watching The Warrior Princess and the barbarian king, Fena: pirate princess and The strongest job is apparently not a hero or a sage but an appraiser.

After a LOT of procrastinating, I finally started watching Solo Leveling, and I've almost finished it in two days because of how hooked I got. Two of my friends have been reading the manhwa since it came out and have been telling me to read it for ages. Then the anime came out and they recommended that too, and when season 2 came out it was the same thing again.

I still don't completely get why there's sooo much hype around it, since it gives me kind of typical isekai mixed with SAO vibes, but I can't deny there's something really addictive about it. I'm saving the last three episodes to watch properly when I have time, because I don't want it to be over too soon.
