I wasn't expecting this so soon, but very exiting. This is one of the shows I've most impatiently been waiting for more of.
I think there's an upcoming movie too?
A movie between cour 1 and 2. Cour 1 in 2026, movie winter 2026, and then cour 2 in spring 2027

I was very impressed by the previous season, so I've got some high expectations going in for this.
It looked from the trailer like we're going to get more Lahan? I have been curious about him and what the dynamic is like between him and Maomao.
I'm so glad you were impressed by the previous season! Season 1 also had a lot more smaller mysteries, and then Season 2 has the huge overarching court intrigue plot so I was worried for fans dropping off.
To me (causal observer) there's less flirting and movement to MaoMao's relationship with Jinshi and I had been worried that folks may not like it as much. Haha but we also got Jinshi publicly revealing himself as Moon Prince to save her, so that's a big movement at the very end : )
Lahan: yes!! I love how Mao Mao is ever so aware of female beauties in her life but seem completely oblivious to the good looking men. Her dad Lakan isn't actually half bad himself but he's just an underfoot smear to her. I'm sure fans will also leave season 3 with new favourite characters too
Well I mean I think Maomao and Lahan are biologically cousins or something so I didn't necessarily mean anything like that, just that the two interacting (and possibly needling each other a bit?) could be fun. And yeah I guess her upbringing has her a lot more matter-of-fact about female beauty, while men were mostly a hazard to be navigated carefully.
I'd agree season 2 did have a bit more Main Plot, but they still managed to work in quite a few smaller mysteries. In terms of the progression of the relationship between Maomao and Jinshi... Yeah they're making it a bit of a slower burn, but I think there was still some definite progress. Aside from the frog thing and his identity, this season basically had them meeting each other's parents.
There's definitely strong sibling vibes with Mao Mao and Lahan :D it's very fun in that the entire La house is full of weirdos
in the light novels she's very harsh on.... everyone, but especially the men lol their physical aspects just not worth anything to her, basically like you said, a potential hazard. Scan for danger then when safe, be cat. Like poor Lihaku is just a human sacrifice to verdigris house for squeezing out money and erh ... energy.
