Japanese consumers are declining while those employed by the industry are likely on the rise. Wonder if that means we'll get even more stories about anime/games/novel production, as has kind of been a trend the past few years (Shirobako, New Game, Saekano, etc.) as it'll be people writing about what they know.

Meanwhile stories about anime otaku seem to be on the decline? Ones like Genshiken, Oreimo. Any more recent ones? I guess the narratives about otaku these days are hikikomori characters generally looked down upon by society. I feel like certain anime trends we see are, unsurprisingly, mirroring trends in Japanese society.
