I want to put in a plug for Colson Whitehead. Harlem Shuffle was one of my most enjoyable recent reads and I am really looking forward to Crook Manifesto. The story of an american black Harlem shopkeeper who is drawn into crime for reasons is exciting, interesting and moving. Whitehead plays with noirish writing but does more with the story.

Colson Whitehead has been one of my favorite authors since John Henry Days. I would go back and check out others of his, especially The Underground Railroad, The Intuitionist, and Zone One.
