Damn good read, devoured it over the course of two days in Quebec City last week and I’m just digesting it now.

Holy crow what a disambiguation of the word “mutiny” (apologies if I wrote that wrong).

I think David Grann manages to display the humanity in the central figures with clarity. Perhaps it’s due to some inference or poetic license in order to move the story along, but he make a good book and that cpt cheap was a dandy.

    I second the recommendation of the Wager. I also really enjoyed The Terror, which is a fictionalized account of real events in a similar kind of setting. I enjoyed them both immensely, but The Terror got under my skin in a way I don't think any other novel has. Both books make me very thankful to get to sleep in a warm, safe bed.
