What's your favourite work by Noam Chomsky?
After a reread of The Responsibility of Intellectuals I've decided I don't feel nearly as sad as I want to; recommend something of his to (probably re)read!

Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media, by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky.
I am not familiar with Chomsky, but after a quick Google search I think I may enjoy his writing. Any book you would recommend starting with?
When you say you don't feel nearly as sad as I want to, what do you mean exactly? Sad by current events?
Chomsky's brilliant at what he does; some might say too brilliant. (It's more or less a meme to be sad after reading Chomsky because of how bleak of a picture he paints.)
I'd recommend Understanding Power as a fantastic introduction to him.
I'll have to see if my local library has it. Thanks for the response!
No problem! Enjoy!
While Understanding Power isn't particularly political in the traditional sense, you might enjoy Syntactic Structures, one of his first major "breakthrough" works.
