Loved reading Murakami's books, even Pinball which I haven't seen a physical copy of anywhere (at least not in Canada). This collection sounds like a good intro to Japanese fiction.

I loved Murakami when i started reading his books, but by the third book i lost interest. It was like i was reading the same books over and over again. It's all the same formula.

Some of it yah, I'm not sure how I went through a lot of his material now that you mention that formulaic writing...I may have to revisit to see if I feel the same way.
