I read some Armitage in secondary school and enjoyed it. I consider his work to be better than that of Duffy, whose pieces, while socially relevant, I generally consider poetically mediocre.
Edit: while in general I don't think much of Duffy's writing, I do quite like her poem War Photographer - with the exception of a couple of clumsy lines.
