Paul Cockshott has started a small series to complement his book. This video in particular lays out the context for when and why the book was written. The publisher refused to print a book with "Communism" in the title circa 1992, but as Paul says in the end:

The book itself lays out what Marx called the first phase of communist society, using modern technology.

I'll rave about this book any chance I get, because it's a great look about how central planning could work quite well today given how far technology has advanced since the concept of central planning came about.
