Hello, I've been working on this color scheme for a while now, due to not finding a theme that is high-contrast enough to keep my ADHD in check and help me focus, but not too high-contrast to cause my eyes hurt.

Revontuli was basically born out of pure necessity and after fiddling with different colors with months, I've finally settled down on this set of colors.

Another thing that bothers me is that many syntax highlight themes across editors are always somewhat different. What I really want to do with Revontuli is to keep the colors very similar. No matter what editor you use, you can rely that functions are colored blue, variables white, etc. Of course, perfect matching can be impossible and depend on the highlighting implementation of the editor.

Anyhow, here's what I've came up with so far. Helix and Kate syntax highlights match really well, and KDE Plasma color scheme should also work well.

The idea is to create a big project containing different color schemes for different apps, similarly like Catpuccin project.

So, feel free to contribute and join in! Give it a try. For some the colors can be too chaotic, but for my brain they work really well, since they force me to focus, but do not hurt my eyes.

Edit: forgot to mention, revontuli is finnish and means northern light.

I do not know if I like it. But I might.

My initial reaction was an immediate no, but I decided to persist for an hour with it as my brain usually says no to any theme that's not one of the handful I use regularly (Catppucin mostly, but also: Nord, Dracula and Rose Pine - but the latter doesn't offer enough contrast for my taste).

Having given it that hour, I'm still not totally sure about it, but there is definitely something going for it. I'm going to stick with it for a few more days (on Helix editor) and decide from there.

In any case, this seems to be a really well thought out theme and the contrast really does feel well dialled in.

As an aside, for some reason, I really like Zenburn on tildes even though I'm not a fan of it anywhere else. I thought for sure that I'd be rocking Dracula here, but here I am.

The themes you mentioned, like Nord, have way too low contrast for my use, and I end up glazing over what I read, instead of reading.

Is there any way to get this to work on mobile? I tried finding something like stylus but everything seems to be desktop only.

      You need Firefox Nightly.

      • Install Nightly
      • Create an account here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/
      • Create a collection with any add-ons you want, include Stylus. Give your collection a name with no spaces (otherwise you need to use underscores for spaces later on).
      • Activate dev mode in Nightly: Settings > About > Tap FF logo 5x
      • Go back to settings, look for "Custom Add-on Collection" and click it
      • Add your UID and the exact name of your collection, save and FF Nightly should restart. You can find the UID in the Collection edit screen, it is just the numbers in the URL on that screen.
      • Go to tildes.net, tap the menu, then check the Add-ons menu for Stylus.

If all that worked you should be able to install Stylus themes and activate them for Tildes.

EDIT: I also don't want to tinker that hard on my phone. I just put it on my desktop browser and I've been messing with the colors and adding bits of this theme.

I'm mostly used to installing stuff through SublimeText's package manager but I do know where files usually go for manual installation.

But I think Sublime Text has now it's own theme config, separate from TextMate themes. If you wish, I wouldn't mind a contribution for that. :) Can also give it a go on my own, but I don't use Sublime Text so I am a bit lost.
