I used Stylish before the dark months after FF57 was released. I say dark months because it seriously took several months to convert from using all the XPCOM based extensions to the Web Extension equivalents. Yes, I'm still salty about having to waste so much of my precious time doing that and changing literally years old habits - (and still DownThemAll developer/s haven't converted.)
Luckily the early web extension version of Stylish was so badly implemented it just didn't work and switching to Stylus was pretty easy.
Consider this another vote for Stylus and let's hope they don't sell out.
IIRC the DownloadThemAll developer said he had no intention of supporting FF post-Quantum. Still to find a good replacement - probably the new API just doesn't support this kind of functionality...

But (I guess) after Mozilla developed the API more, he changed his mind and said he'd make a DTA Lite with a proof of concept about Nov last year promising an imminent release.. Then nothing until late December saying delays and that he wouldn't promise or commit to any milestones.
Then ... nothing and now it;s 6 months later and still we have to put up with the absolutely most basic, crippled, useless download handling that's built in :(
Do you mean it was shady even under stylish's original ownership? Asking because I used the older versions while they were still in the hands of the original owner*, and I'm curious if there's...

*The exception to this was a test I did last month with one of the newer, data-sucking versions of Stylish on a portable ESR profile. The checkbox to NOT send data to the developers never stuck; i.e., every time I closed & reopened that (portable) profile, that checkbox was enabled.
The opt-out data collection was added after it was sold, around January 2017, it went closed source around that time too. Stylus was a fork based on the latest source available back then, created...

Before that, Stylish was fine and trustworthy. Ever since they changed ownership, it has been going downhill.

Funny thing about adding the newer SPYlish to my portable browser: I had only used that ff profile to search mozilla for various privacy-related addons... so it kinda makes me hope the spylish spooks DO look at that history. :p

For the lazy, here are direct links to the Stylus homepage, the Chrome extension, the Firefox add-on, and Opera extension.
Stylish has since been given the Mozilla banhammer today.
(recommended by me, and the author)

They were shady before, which is why Stylus was made. I'm not surprised it has come to this.
