Why do we still use COBOL?

    Well it still just works, its super fast and transaction safety is key on it. There really is no incentive to replace all your backend for something newer, you will just have to redo all...

    There really is no incentive to replace all your backend for something newer, you will just have to redo all integration tests and run into a new plethora of issues and other issues that you solved in the last 30 years

    Interesting read. I don't know much about COBOL so I've been one of those who just thought the change would be too difficult and expensive.

        I know that it's kind of silly, but it genuinely does bother me how antiquated a lot of bank's systems are. But that isn't directed at so much using COBOL. Just things in general.
