I'm working on a coastal themed wreath. It started with experimenting with seaweed for food but some of them came out of the dehydrator so beautifully I though they would make a great wreath. I've prepped and dehydrated the seaweed, collected shells and driftwood, now I just have to pick up a few rocks and I'm ready to go. I'll post a picture when it's finished.
MindTrap (which is still being printed today for some reason) comes with an entirely too large box for a game where the only part is a single deck of cards, so I 3D printed a box of my own. The logo was fairly simple so I was able to trace some vectors so I could have it stick out of the box and look pretty. The box itself isn't something special; I just used an off-the-shelf pre-designed card box and customized it for my needs. It saved me a lot of trouble since I still haven't figured out how to work with 2D imports in OpenSCAD.
I had a surprising number of troubles trying to get this print working properly; apparently my extruder motor is starting to fail as it started to overheat and failed twice. I finally got it completely printed but I realized that my choice of material was bad because the Yellow PLA I chose has very little pigment in it and is semi-transparent.
I'm making a dice tower, for my friend's birthday next week. It's oak and perspex (would rather glass but that adds significant tool requirements) with brass fixtures. It's progressing pretty well, I am having to learn how to use my new bandsaw and significantly improve my plane sharpening/setup/use technique so it's a nice learning project too. I suck at planes and I am definitely making progress. Having bought a new one that isn't complete shit has helped a lot.
I just finished the dry fit and final sanding and it's currently soaking up a coat of tung oil, I'll put another one on later tonight then the woodwork bit will be done. Tomorrow I should be able to partially assemble it, then start working on the actual dice-tumbling part which I haven't prototyped at all.
