Inspired by the sign posts you see on a beach in the Carribean, I cut some thin wood planks to shape them like arrows, painted each one a different bright color and painted words on them like "Snorkeling" and "Rum Bar" and "Beach" then nailed them up and down a thin straight tree trunk that had fallen on our property and planted it in our backyard. It gives a fun beach vibe to our backyard sitting area.

Any chance we could get some pics of your work? No pressure, but as someone with a passion for landscaping I’m just curious to see what it looks like. :)

Hey All! Long time no see, It's been over a year since I've been on here.

In the past photography was for fun and I didn't really care how the pictures came out. I still enjoy it, but it has evolved to more than fun, It's a full-on passion now.

I moved about a year ago and because of that, I lost my darkroom. After a very hectic year, I've finally gotten it up and going again. It's makeshift (a pair of folding tables in a garage), but I'm printing again and that's what's important.

My goals right now are to create gallery-quality photos. Right now my focus is mostly on producing a print that has high technical quality and most importantly looks like what I envisioned when taking the picture.

I'm shooting exclusively large format (4x5 inch negatives from giant tripod-mounted cameras).

Last week I spent 2.5 hours to take 3 photos.
I spent 1.5 hours individually developing them. One is worth printing.
I spent 2.5 hours in the darkroom trying to get a good print, and it will take several more hours to finish
Then I will touch it up by hand using ink and a paintbrush. I don't even know how long that will take.

All of this for one print. I love investing this much into one image. It will feel really great when I finally get it where I want it to be!

Welcome back! I missed seeing your semi-regular photo submissions, and can’t wait to see what new you ones have in store for us. :) Still working with B&W vintage stuff?

Trying to focus on technicals and darkroom printing right now. I got a new enlarger that will allow me to print my larger negatives which are higher res (4x5 has the equivelent of like 800 mega pixels)

Yeah everyday use dropped in the 50s but it's used by many fine art photographers today. Beyond the resolution, these cameras can swivel the front where the lens is and the back where the film is....

Beyond the resolution, these cameras can swivel the front where the lens is and the back where the film is. This let's you do some weird and cool things with focus.

Whoa... TIL that's where tilt-shift photography came from. I always assumed it was purely a digital effect. p.s. Some related links: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/View_camera#Tilt...

It's funny how some things we can do digitally we assume are new. I know that for myself it's really easy to take the ingenuity of the past for granted.
