I made this last year, published it a month or two ago, and am only sharing this now because I only today could I be bothered to take some half-decent photos of it. Even now I wasn't sure where to put this because it goes in most of our categories here at Tildes.

This is an all-in-one (or I guess in two) 3D-printable MiSTer system made with the highest quality materials - relcaimed iPad screens and a ton of ABS! Designed over the course of many days with OpenSCAD over the course of several iterations.

For those unfamiliar with MiSTer, it's a project that uses a Terrasic DE-10 nano FPGA evaluation board and uses that fancy chip to re-implement various systems in actual hardware. It's basically a super hardcore version of emulation, but instead of a computer doing math to figure out what the original hardware, the FPGA essentially becomes the original hardware. As a result they can theoretically be much more accurate. Some cores go the extra distance and give you options to fix between some chip revisions and even simulate the effect of differing audio amplification circuits.

You can read more about this specific build in the description, but I'm very happy with how it came out. It wasn't cheap to build but it was far from expensive; there's actually a bunch of cost-saving measures in there I wasn't originally planning on taking (but I took them because I'm cheap). It was a very good decision to use a reclaimed iPad display on this because everything comes out looking very vivid and sharp, which helps the CRT style video filters IMHO. Best of all, it's proper 4:3 so everything displays in the correct aspect ratios (which is particularly rare for PC emulation for some reason).

I still need to put some mounting holes for a VESA mount. It'll happen. Eventually.
