What creative projects have you been working on?
This topic is part of a series. It is meant to be a place for users to discuss creative projects they have been working on.
Projects can be personal, professional, physical, digital, or even just ideas.
If you have any creative projects that you have been working on or want to eventually work on, this is a place for discussing those.
This week I got the second and third parts of the semi-modular synth setup I've been thirsting after. In the last few days I've been slowly somewhat learning how they all interact. I was able to get some very nice sounding drones with a good amount of sonic movement. I'm looking forward to exploring this puzzle.
Noise / dark ambient / death industrial music. (Heavily inspired by acts like Uranium). Since the last time I posted about it I have had more breakthrough days where I was able to essentially get two full tracks done (at least a full first draft of each) plus some bits and pieces of more tracks. It's been a few days of downtime as I've put my focus on other projects (3D printing, yardwork, etc) but plan to jump back into it because some writers block got cleared and I just rode the inertia through a lot of composing/editing/recording.
I really want to get a full album done. So far, a few people that I have shared the demo tracks with have given pretty positive feedback, them being metal / noise fans, even some with some experience doing stuff professionally- so that felt quite good and I can't wait to jump back in
As a 30-year metal fan and noisemaker I'd like to hear those demo tracks if you're willing to share.
Appreciate it!
migraine - traversing the internal nothing
demo track 1 - this is "ambient that becomes more screwed up over time then resolves" and i think would serve as a good intro track to a record
migraine - circuit eschatology
demo track 2 - this is a more full-fledged harsh noise / death industrial track. rhythmic harsh noise, growls, dark ambient parts, extremely screwy guitars, etc
Edit: feel free to let me know openly and honestly what you think!
Nothing huge, but I've gotten around to plotting/writing a story idea I've had since an old TiMaSoMo.
The good news is that I seem to be up to over 20,000 words already.
The bad news is that I'm still in the "outlining" stage, just noting down the various beats, the moods, and sample dialogue as it comes to me.
This may be a mess.
I installed GameMaker yesterday and I thought about trying to create a project I've wanted to do for a while.
A 2D puzzle platformer inspired by the Wario Land series (specifically 2 and 3.) You play as an escaped convict and the sole survivor of a prison ship that sinks near an island. The game is a mix between a Metroidvania and collect-a-thon. Nothing in the game can kill you, and the challenge mainly focuses around either avoiding or navigating the world using status effects to find treasure.
I didn't want to do a game based around the original Wario Land, as it was basically a Mario Land reskin (albeit a very good one), and Wario Land 4 is my least favourite entry in the series, and even though it inspired some very good games like Antonblast and Pizza Tower, I want to make something that plays more like the second and third game.
I'm trying to get into photography as a business, after doing it as a fun hobby for many years.
Not sure where exactly where I'll end up, but for now I'm focusing on events (more corporate / small business rather than weddings). Also brand and commercial photography, even though there's more risk of AI replacing photographers there. I've got some connections in those spaces and have a gig lined up.
I'm not a graphic designer so my website is kind of garbage, haha, but I'll work on it some more.
I've taken a lot of landscape pictures over the years while vacationing, and I'm thinking of figuring out if it's worth trying to sell prints online or something like that. Not sure if that will make sense, but no matter what I'll still enjoy taking pictures as I travel.
I also have some connections in "action sports" like car racing, shooting sports, martial arts, etc. I have a friend's upcoming race that I'll use for practice to build up my portfolio. I'm thinking of these in an event photography sub-bucket, but with a different brand than the other more traditional corporate stuff.
Portrait photography is also on my list, but aside from any impromptu "portrait style" photos I would take at events, I don't have any portrait pipeline that I'm actively building. My only connection here is a buddy that has a studio I can use.
My girlfriend wanted to turn her handwriting into a font, so she can use it for subtitles and other forms of content without always needing to handwrite it.
There are a few tools, but I figured I'd just build my own again, cause why not.
I am quite happy with it. It's free, but I might at some point add a small one time payment, but except for me, my girlfriend and whoever looks at it from here, no one actually uses it. So if you like to try making your own font:
