I finished my shorts!! They're the very first human wearable thing I've sewn and I'm so proud of them. I went out of my way to make sure I did this right since I made a draft pair and then the final. I was grateful to complete both on time, but I think there's definitely things I would do differently. The main thing being tuning into my size. I'm kind of in between sizes right now so one size fits a bit too small, but then the other is a smidge too lose. I'm not yet comfortable making alterations, but no time like the present.

I also am very close to finishing the dress and petticoat of my ball jointed doll. I need to hem the bottom of the skirt and then put in the clasps! It took a slight hiatus as I tried to get my shorts done ASAP, but I'm very proud of how it turned out!

Did you end up finding patterns for the doll clothes or making them or what? Will you share photos of those, too, when they’re done??
What’s your next project going to be?

I bought the pattern off There's lots of BJD patterns, but the hardest part is that while the scale is the same, the proportions can be drastically different than others. I had to make alterations but they weren't too hard.

Im not sure what my next sewing project will be, maybe something wearable again or just more doll clothes.

Last year I started a photography blog (paid for a web host and installed WordPress.) I haven't touched it in months because some things in my life have been keeping me ridiculously busy, mainly IRL job and charity work.

Also unsure what direction I could or want to move the blog in. I think at most I peaked at about 50 users during a month according to Google Analytics, though I think a lot of my traffic has been from spammers attempting to astroturf my blog with phishing links. Not a single legitimate comment has been posted yet and it's frankly a good thing that I need to pre-approve comments.

The intent I had when starting it was to try and pick up a new hobby, learn SEO and see if I could bring it to a point where I could earn some drinking money from ads with the idea. Didn't have ambitious intentions to make it my lifelong career.

There are three potential directions I have thought about moving it towards:

    • Tutorial/guide blog - Problem with this is that I don't understand photography or photo editing well enough to really teach it at a hobbyist or professional level. Could approach it from an experimental way, where I experiment with certain different gadgets and lenses. I know how to do relatively basic things with GIMP and Affinity Photo, can explain file types, can explain how rule of thirds, focus, ISO, etc works, but little else.

    • Travel/sightseeing blog - This is the direction I originally thought of taking, but ultimately held off because of COVID-19. I have only been writing posts about sights and landmarks in my city and trying to hit the coveted 1000 - 3000 word goal and optimize it as much using a Yoast SEO plugin as possible.

    • Pub & restaurant reviews - Another idea I had was to contact venue owners and see if they'd be up for having me visit, take photos, review my trip and possibly agree to an interview where I talk about various things like how the pub is running, what challenges they've faced during COVID, etc. I held back on this because of both covid and because I thought it would be an uphill battle convincing them to welcome a random new blogger.

Not sure what else I could really do with photography....

I'm currently making a game called Booster, heavily inspired by the old DOS Jetpack games (https://dosgames.com/game/jetpack/), using Godot Engine. Basic synopsis is you're a dude with a light gun (called a Matter Disruptor in Booster) and a jetpack. The idea is you travel the level, collect gems, destroy objects and disable enemies. You would progress from level to level to reach the end by collecting certain items, a la many simple but fun DOS games.

It's still in the early stages, but it's coming along nicely. You can view progress at https://snitlist.neocities.org/ or my Twitter https://twitter.com/snitlist (I also retweet a lot of other game projects that I'm following, or see that I really like).

I do intend to have a level editor, but I think that'll be the hardest thing to create for this project. I want to get all functionality down before building out a level editor.
