This is pretty nice. I also like the idea from the comments of using a cylinder instead of a wheel in order to keep the diameter the same. It makes me want to live next to a river so I can water/irrigate with something like this. No power, almost all the water eventually returns to the river. Certainly not efficient enough for providing water to large populations, but it's great for diverting water.
