    From the article:

A Wild West ghost town has submerged back into the deep as California's once-dry Lake Isabella fills up for the first time in years.

Until recently, the lake in the southern Sierra Nevada foothills in Central California was emblematic of California's drought. In September, it was at 8% capacity, revealing the town of Whiskey Flat. Whiskey Flat was founded in the 1860s as the Gold Rush was tapering off.

    ...

In 2006, the Army Corps of Engineers found structural problems with the dam, resulting in the decision to limit how much water could flow into Lake Isabella. That, combined with years of drought, emptied the vast reservoir. Last year, you could see the foundations of Whiskey Flat emerging from the dry lakebed.

In February, USACE announced the safety fixes were in place, and Lake Isabella would be allowed to fill again. The Bakersfield Californian reported earlier this month that the lake has hit 500,000 acre-feet of water for the first time in almost 20 years.

I wish that they showed pictures of the foundations. I scrolled through looking for them, but did not see anything that stood out as ghost town foundations
