There’s a decent amount of unnecessary IVF (iv fluids) in the hospital, but the culture shift away from providers slapping down a bag of saline on every single patient is going to be a challenge
Really we need to emphasize that only patients with a kidney injury or NPO (nothing by mouth) are those that need IVF. This is mostly for our med-surg units though, but I hope we don’t run out too soon for our ICU patients sake…

A few of my close friends that are fairly well educated (all guys in our ~30’s) but very disillusioned with the current political landscape and therefore don’t participate in anything politics wise. I’m the sort to message all my representatives to voice my own beliefs and what I think should be supported, but getting them to is literally like pulling teeth. They think their opinion doesn’t matter and could not possibly have any impact (on local issues, and even national issues)
Have you ever encountered similar situations? If so, do you have advice or thoughts on how to convince people the said mentality?
I know corporations and super-PACs have way more money than I do, but I feel like if every single citizen voiced their beliefs that should at the end of the day outweigh these faceless donations (because then representatives could be voted out if they didn’t go along with the popular support)
I don’t really think that everyone would actually one day participate in politics, but I sure know it won’t be possible if I don’t try personally

The fact that a French baker would call you an idiot is immaterial, because even a native French speaker lacks the capacity to make such a specific request. Right?

Hi, I’m a clinical pharmacist who specializes in infectious disease
Though I’m sure it contributes to some capacity, I highly doubt that agricultural antibiotic use plays a significant role in the generation of the multi drug resistant bacteria we see in healthcare, relative to the role that over use of antibiotics in medicine plays
Most agricultural antibiotics utilize amoxicillin, which is of the most narrow spectrum antibiotics in the hospital
The way bacteria develop resistance is through the expression of specific enhancements that either neutralize the drug from inside, decrease the drugs ability to get inside the cell, or increase the rate at which drug is pumped outside the cell
The exact mechanism employed by bacteria varies, but generally amoxicillin has a very low selection pressure for more than one type of resistance, if even (as there are quite a few other more serious bacteria out there that simply are not covered by amoxicillin)
This is opposed to our more broad spectrum agents that try to cover every bacteria under the sun. Now with our broad spectrum antibiotics, there is lot more pressure for bacteria to develop multiple resistance mechanisms, which is really bad and THOSE are the bacteria that we are worried about
I am not going to get into the nuance of potential ways agriculture is impacting antimicrobial resistance, which it is, I just would argue that the clinically significant antimicrobial resistance is more so due to human consumption of antibiotics
we don’t tend to see patients come in with antibiotic resistance, unless they have an extensive history of antibiotic use

My background is not even close to engineering/3D modeling, so when I first started using Fusion I honestly had no idea where to start. I think one benefit to the program however is its' sheer popularity, as for anything I have wanted to do to my models, I can find a tutorial to help me figure it out. Highly recommend trying it out if you're wanting a nice modeling program. I have the educational version for a limited amount of time, but will likely transition to the free version for non-commercial use if they ever realize my student email is old
I think I used SCAD once or twice for a parametric auto-spool rewinder, and it was super interesting how everything is just generated by editing the formula/numbers!
Sorry again for the mix up on my response. This post got way more attention that I had expected, but I wanted to go through and try to respond to everyone that took the time to post something 🙂

The hotend is definitely your issue. I print ABS at 250 first layer, 245 all layers after. 240 was too low on my temperature tower
So is the helium for balloons just poorly transported which allows for impurities?
I assume it’s not possible to re-purify helium through liquefaction again, otherwise I imagine that would be happening
