This is why his "once in a generation" climate bill did more harm than good over the long-term. It wasn't close to what we needed, but because it's more than we've spent up to now, the Biden admin and establishment democrats think they can dust their hands and get back to fellating corporate America.

I almost would've prefered nothing so the pressure could be more easily turned into momentum.

I think some of what is left out of the conversation is that much of the mitigation, offset, and restoration financing is coming directly from the federal government. That bill has impacted the climate space pretty heavily and within the last 2 years turned it into a viable field/industry, one that nearly every market is scrambling to get into. The subsidies, project funding, granting, and regulation changes - many of which were funded from that bill - are really changing the landscape. Even bankers are now talking biodiversity.

You're not wrong, we need way more! But it's hard to convey to folks who don't work in the space what a monumental shift has happened in the last 2 years. It's been huge.

If there is some better alternative bills out there maybe not passing the infrastructure bill would have made that one more likely to pass, but is there even such a bill? Perhaps, I dont really follow congress that closely.

I think when there is a really detailed alternative plan then maybe all the energy in political frustration could be channeled toward making that a reality, but in the meantime bland neoliberalism is at least making an effort.
