It’s disappointing to remember that a lot of the “progress” Western countries have seen in climate goals were just a result of outsourcing dirty industry to developing countries. Especially because those poorer places have far less ability to make an immediate transition to renewables than developed countries. Like, they literally don’t have the infrastructure to support the switch, let alone the funding for it.
I think that as European nations reach majority renewable use, they really have to continue putting money into R&D for renewable tech and processes that developing countries can benefit from. More equitable.
