Drinking water is delivered nationally via 1 million miles of pipes, many of which were laid in the early to mid-20th century, according to the American Society of Civil Engineers. Those pipes are now nearing the end of their life spans.

I have been saying this for a long time, and people kept telling me I was crazy!

People always ask me, "You really think tap water is any different than bottled or whatever else?" I just know the water lines to my neighborhood have been buried a very very long time and when something is buried no maintenance can be done and they just fall apart. My house is 100 years old and I know the same lines are there.

Yes it would be expensive (time and money) to schedule and replace now, but it will be even more expensive to wait until it breaks and fucks everything over.
The people in charge would rather kick the ball down the field in the hopes they wont have to deal with it.

I also grew up in a rural town where the water was unsafe to drink. The water would run brown at times and we were downstream from a "superfund" contaminated site. There were warning signs along the river not to eat fish caught from the river but there were many poor people that would still do it because they didn't have a lot of options for food.

When I would go to my grandparent's house the next town over they had what we thought was clean well water but we recently found out that it is contaminated with PFOA and I had been drinking it most of my childhood.

Pipes are full of lead, bridges are collapsing, and nobody wants to do anything but spend more on the military.
