To summarize I view it as "alt-right but believes in climate change", with policy focus flowing as you'd expect.

Not so crazy really. Fascism is motivated in part by a sense of wanting to maintain some abstract notion of "purity." From a purely emotional point of view, the same visceral "disgust" reaction that motivates racism can motivate a desire for ecological purity too.

Plus, plenty of Green Party types in 2016 were definitely low-key voting for Trump. They knew enough to be ashamed of the racism, but they're still indifferent to that racism at their cores. This is part of the driving impulse behind paranoia about overpopulation too. Hence why the hysteria is typically accompanied by a silent and unstated implication that "too many people" actually means "too many of those people."

Eh, "green washing" is pretty old. The British National Party had animal rights groups and environmental groups. Here's a post from 2000, and I knew of it in the early 1990s....

Eco-friendly, environmentalist politics tend to be linked with the ideas of the left, not fused with the oppressive politics of fascism.

It was pretty easy to uncover them. You'd just ask about methods of slaughter, and then introduce the topic of ritual slaughter and they would just start with the Islamophobic or anti-Semitic stuff straight away.

I think Arkangel probably had some articles about it.
