I spent most of the day listening to NPR and them drone on about Trump, the diverted funds to pay for "his parade", baby Trump blimp protesters, yes there will be tanks and jets, and "Thanks, but no Tanks" Twitter trends.

I've also been watching some Last Week Tonight episodes here and there and Oliver is having so much fun with Trump that he seems to always cram at least one jab at Trump during every show if not dedicating a whole show to rip on 45.

But this is the second article on here about severe global warming events that are happening as of me writing this, numerous other articles of what was happening six months ago in the southern hemisphere as they were getting pummeled by their summer heat waves and we were in our polar vortex. Then I just saw the AQ-9 Climate Task files and I swear it's really starting to feel like we're all so mad with eachother that we're choking eachother while the house is buring down all around us and our kids are screaming get us out of this!

So seriously, WTF is wrong with all of us? Why are we not ringing the alarms and coming together to fix this? Why are we not doing something? Was Kent State our Tiananmen Square? Was Occupy Wall Street our Hong Kong Protests?

Trump is the face of the issue, is he not? He, and those like him, are standing squarely in the way of anything being done. At best they are short sighted; they think that either the flames will never reach them, or that when they do that they can be controlled. At worst, they think that all this smoke comes without fire. Either way, why do anything? They are in control, and by their reckoning nothing needs fixing.

Is it just a coincidence or is the warming going really fast in the past few years?

When they talk about a global temperature change of 2 degrees being catastrophic, that's the average at the equator. The physics of it do not leave a lot of room for hope. A change of 2 degrees at the equator is something like 14 at the poles. We are already at +1.5 degrees at the equator, so the change at the poles has been much more extreme and is a grim version of the future.

warming is occurring considerably faster at the poles than in the rest of the world, so especially in northern regions yes, it is going very fast.
