EDIT: Rewrote the whole thing to fit my thesis into a format better suited to Tildes.
I'm glad that no one suffered the experience of being robbed, regardless of how genteel or not a given bank robbery is. At the same time, the decrease in use of cash doesn't just make bank robbery less lucrative, it's an example of all the ways that our lives are more constrained by the monolithic systems within which we live. Systems which, by their very nature are abusable to benefit the wealthy and well-connected and intractable to the poor or disenfranchised.

/uj I'm glad to hear that no one had to go through that traumatic experience last year./rj This is just another sign that there's no space in the economy for the independent worker anymore! The little guy just can't compete with the big businesses who want to rob people en masse!

It's nice to see some jerking on Tildes. 🤨
It's a valuable format for the moments when I really want to have it both ways.
What’s the format? I’m not sure what uj and rj mean.
"Un-jerk" and "re-jerk", used in circlejerk subreddits to allow for moments of sincerity. Not sure about using it in a serious group on a site that at least pays lipservice to real discussion.
I mean, both are real feelings I have about the situation, but one is perhaps more hyperbolic than the other.
I don't take umbrage with your comment, my concern is more with what it implies. This is not a circlejerk, the assumptions made in conversation here should be more rooted in straightforward communication, not assumed to be frivolous mockery. That you felt the desire to frame your sincere comments as one would in such a different environment indicates a) that some of the more toxic elements of reddit culture are pervading, and b) that the mission statement of this site is more or less a failure.
I'm sorry if my prior comment came across as a snotty subtweet, I didn't mean to criticize you, because I don't think you did anything wrong. Despite that, it brought up some bitterness.
Fair enough. When I have time I'll reframe my initial comment to more earnestly share my feelings on the topic.
