I don't know that Peltz ever had a real shot at getting on the board, but going full racist on social media in the run-up to the vote probably didn't help here.

Oh hell. Ike Perlmutter (sp?) was a part of this attempted proxy fight? That right there would make me vote no. That guy was the bane of Marvel for decades. Bad choices all over the place. Edit:...

Edit: wish I could recall the source and some more details for that opinion. It’s in some documentary or YouTube deep dive on Marvel history.
Edit 2: I think he hamstrung or was an issue for Kevin Feige?
Perlmutter was openly racist and sexist and didn’t want to greenlight Black Panther or Captain Marvel for the obvious reasons. Perlmutter and Feige never got along and one of the final straws was...

Perlmutter and Feige never got along and one of the final straws was Perlmutter denying the use of RDJ in Civil War and wanted to use Ruffalo instead since his salary was lower. Feige threatened to quit if he had to keep answering to Perlmutter, so then Iger made it so Feige had to only directly answer to Alan Horn.
He kept stonewalling Kevin Feige's attempts to make Black Panther, because "kids won't buy toys for a black super hero". In 2015 I think, Feige went to Iger and threatened to quit if he didn't get...

In 2015 I think, Feige went to Iger and threatened to quit if he didn't get Perlmutter out of his way on Black Panther and a number of other films, and that's how the movie finally got made.
To add insult to injury, Perlmutter and Peltz doubled down on this racist rhetoric last week, after the franchise put out two $1b movies and sold mountains of toys. So they can't just pretend they were ignorant, they are being actively racist and have atrocious business acumen to boot.

Ding ding ding. Thanks- that's exactly what I was half remembering.
