I understand the dubiousness of MasterCard's claims that cash is "dangerous", but I'm a bit lost on where this comes from:
Pay as much as possible in cash and as little as possible with Mastercard and Visa. Ignore the signs in supermarkets asking you to pay by card.
I don't think the author gave any justification for preferring one form of payment over another before making this statement. I've dealt almost exclusively in plastic most of my adult life, and now use contactless payments for ~85% of my transactions. What is my motivation here to abandon this convenience?
As for safety during a pandemic, I think it's hard to argue that contactless payments (Apple Pay, Google Wallet, etc.) aren't technically the safest option as long as the user does not have to make physical contact with the payment terminal, even if the risk otherwise is minimal.
