Hey all - Listed out 4 pieces of media I really enjoyed in Q4. Have you seen/read them? Is Crypto something new, or is it the same old thing financial hucksters have been peddling for years? I also discuss a movie that highlights the trauma a South Sudanese couple faces as they emigrate to the UK. Then, I move to the revelation that is 90 Day Fiancé. Is this what I've been missing when I don't watch reality television? Finally, I highlight Anne Helen Peterson's excellent essay about the professionalization of children's athletics. She's an amazing writer, and this piece will cause many to think about how children's athletics exacerbate inequality.

Why does Elizabeth Holmes have hardcore fans? This piece explores why via a quote from James Bond (Daniel Craig) and comparisons to others of her ilk like Martin Shkreli and OJ Simpson.

Love the idea of a long form series. The book is quite episodic as well as it starts from the POV of the kid, and gradually moves away from it. I think that'd be a good way to tell the story.

Fair enough. It's just the title. I'll share more next time.

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. It's really drawn me in so far. His writing in this one is unlike anything I've experienced before. If you can stomach the grizzly violence, I'd recommend it.

Unfortunately, I don't have a car, so I think getting to Metarie is going to be difficult. I'm in the Marigny at the moment.

Thanks also for sharing R&O. I'm not a seafood person, but do love roast beef, so it's great to know of a po'boy place with something for me.
