Wasn't a bad read, but imo you do need to come into it with the right mindset; it's very much a personal tale of the author and her road towards self actualization and late coming of age....

Wasn't a bad read, but imo you do need to come into it with the right mindset; it's very much a personal tale of the author and her road towards self actualization and late coming of age. Certainly there are other people with her point of view, and it gives a glimpse into that culture and that position, but no more.

It's very much not, say, an investigative piece into the financial troubles of "outdoorsy" types. Her story starts with a lucrative career in finance, such that she had the opportunity to blow 290k on hedonism, and ends with her parents giving her a large sum of money. Certainly not things everyone has. So don't take it like that kind of article.

It's more personal than the headline implies. (How could we determine that "outdoorsy types suck at money?"). I'm skeptical that these are problems that most people have. But never mind that....
