I made some odd decisions on Friday.

My partner was out of town so I indulged in all of the things she can't eat (gluten intolerant and no chard due to high oxalates that lead to kidney stones). I personally love chard, knew she woud be out of town, and had 2 bunches of chard ready for a shmorgasboard. I've also been feeling a little 'fluffy' recently due to injury stopping my usual sport and an insane ramp up in work so I thought basing the dish around veggies would be a good idea. I came across this recipe for a chard slab pie on the NYT cooking page. I made the filling, which was incredible (subbed out the cream cheese for goat cheese as that's what we had in the fridge), moved on to the pastry and realized that I'd be working with 2.5 sticks of butter. Fast forward 2 hours and I had myself a beautiful golden slab and as Paul would say, "No soggy bottom". Well good intentions be damned, I ate half of it by myself that first evening. It had to have been like 2000+ calories easily. Honestly, it was worth it. If you have 2-3 hours to burn I fully recommend the recipe.
