Looking for favorite easy custard or pudding recipes that are not tapioca

We bought extra milk in a two for one deal. What's your advice for easy ways to use it up? Preferably dessert, but I'm open to suggestions

Hmm reading your comment that's its just milk though... Usually custard is made from heavy cream. Not sure how it will do with less fat milk.

A bit of a curveball, but how about some Japanese savory steamed custard (chawanmushi in Japanese)? I'm a big fan, and it's an interesting variation on the theme:...

Edit: not sure how easy it is to get the ingredients outside of Japan, but I make it quite often, since I do live here, so everything is available in every supermarket...

My most recent favorite pudding is southern banana pudding. 20 mins prep and 3 hrs of refrigerating. Makes 14 servings (2/3 of a cup per serving). I modified the instructions from this recipe to be a bit clearer: https://www.myfoodandfamily.com/recipe/050744/easy-southern-banana-pudding

    You'll need:

    • 3 cups cold milk
    • 2 pkg. (3.4 oz. each) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
    • 30 vanilla wafers (the small, yellow round cookies known as Nilla Wafers)
    • 3 bananas, sliced
    • 1 tub (8 oz.) Thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping (optional)

    Step 1
Beat pudding mixes and milk with whisk 2 min. Let stand 5 min.

    Step 2
Arrange half the wafers on bottom and up side of 2-qt. serving bowl.

    Step 3
Fill the wafer base with half of the rest of your banana slices and pudding.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 for another layer.

    Step 4 (optional)
    Cover with COOL WHIP.

    Step 5
    Refrigerate 3 hours.

If you like banana and Nilla Wafers, this is a really simple treat. :)
