There is some concern that the Amazon one is a lower quality than what Benriner is known for, but I don't know if that is actually true, they look the same.
Also, I don't have any experience with the 'new' version, the 'old' one is the more standardly used one.

I love a mandoline. There's nothing better when it comes to accidentally slicing off bits of all of your knuckles at once because you didn't use the tool to safely hold the food in place.

Don't know what qualifies as cheap but bought the Swissmar Borner V Power Mandoline, V-7000 in 2013 (had to check when I actually bought it) and use it to this day. After 5 years soft items like...
Don't know what qualifies as cheap but bought the Swissmar Borner V Power Mandoline, V-7000 in 2013 (had to check when I actually bought it) and use it to this day. After 5 years soft items like bell peppers have to be jiggled but everything harder still cuts incredibly well.
I personally own a 'Benriner Mandoline' and use it regularly for home and professional use, for something so simple and cheap it is a workhorse.

I don't think you will ever see anyone in a professional kitchen using the guide, it usually gets thrown away with the box.
Yeah, in the years since then I've learned better finger discipline near sharp things, but I'm still wary around them.
