I'm currently working from home but I think at lunch time when I have half an hour to make a ~30mL drink I might try this. It's an interesting concept.

EDIT - Well that's REALLY interesting. I used my normal 19g dose in my Breville Barista Express (which does not have a grinder as good as the Niche Zero James uses in his video).

I normally single dose my grinder so the hopper was empty - I turned it on to the double shot setting to maximise the time it'll run the burrs for and sort of scooped beans off my scales in to the grinder a few at a time.

I've never been able to hit the magic 36-40g in 30 seconds number with this machine.

The shot that I pulled seemed to start darker and flow slower to begin with, I stopped it at about 36g in 22 seconds. The result does seem noticeably smoother and tastier than the shot I pulled with breakfast. It could just be my imagination or the fact that I was more alert when making this one compared to the first but I think this requires further experimentation.

Also my wife said that she has never met anybody who was as big a coffee wanker as me so there's that.
