    I was getting into Children of Morta and unlocked the third character, but I kind of got stuck in a rut, because I died bunches and wasn't able to "go off" like in Isaac or Gungeon. Maybe I should give it another shot?

      There were definitely some times when I had to replay the same level repeatedly until I leveled up enough or collected enough gold to upgrade some things a few times. The "persistent" upgrades in Children of Morta are quite strong, so I think progress is based more around those, and if you're having trouble you might just need to level up a character or buy a few more upgrades and then it'll get a lot easier again.

      In other games like you mentioned, you usually start each run at exactly the same strength and it's more about the items inside each run, but in Children of Morta there's a lot more progression of "base" stats that starts you out at a stronger point.
