Hello Tildes, this is my first post/comment, so please advise if I'm doing it wrong. My friend and I have been fascinated with AI both the good and the bad. We are in our 40's and as IT and Creative Design professionals, we are slogged down with our respective careers demands, but when we have the chance to flex our creative muscles outside work, we do! We have been streaming a journey of building out a cooperative board game that was initially created using ChatGPT, Midjourney, and our respective expertise. Our goal is to make the board game and post it online to give it to anyone for free. The objective is to produce a package that can be downloaded, printed, and 3d printed for whoever wants to play it.
AI was only able to take us so far, but it set the foundation of where we are headed. It's a cooperative sci-fi Christmas horror themed board game. The link provided on this post is only for reference to watch VODs starting from around Episode 22 (Adam and Ryan show episodes) to see the board game develop if you wish. The basic premise is that you are attending a party at the North pole celebrating the research of Dr. Frost on ancient Christmas magic. Predictably things go bad, and you have to find your way out before it's too late!
The games objective is to work together to escape the facility by collecting sleigh parts, fighting Christmas themed monsters, and visiting special rooms to open doors. It's all kinds of ridiculous but fun it its own way.
This leads me to the topic of discussion and where it would help to get perspective. We are at the point of developing end game scenarios. Throughout the game you fight monsters using dice and collect parts while navigating corridors and a maze. We are working to build the tension and engagement that makes achieving a win an accomplishment.
What co-op board game scenarios best resonate with you? Are there things you think that make the board game experience a fulfilling challenge?
