    From Wikipedia:

José Raúl Capablanca y Graupera was a Cuban chess player who was world chess champion from 1921 to 1927. A chess prodigy, he is widely renowned for his exceptional endgame skill and speed of play.

At the age of 29, Cabablanca became World Chess Champion. He is the only Latin American to ever achieve the title, and is generally regarded as one of the best players in chess history.

Do notice that, in this article, it becomes very clear that Capablanca had no inclination to modesty. That is partly a personality trait, but also a consequence of his absolute dominance and superior understanding of the game. Makes for an interesting reading, I think.
