I like the ability to transfer your character to a non-HC realm after death, but opening up the AH and trading doesn't seem great. There's no real sense of achievement if you can just buy gold/wow tokens and then buy all the world drops you want. Would have much preferred if they just made profession materials buyable at a vendor and slightly increased the world/dungeon drop rate for everything but then I guess they lose out on people buying tokens.

I don't really mind open trade, although maybe restricted trade like Turtle WoW would be nice.

Trade restrictions are more relevant when there are non-HC player on the servers, and Vanilla WoW is so lethal, I don't expect the challenge to be trivialized anytime soon. Especially with the restriction to dungeon spamming.

Yea, that's true. I will say, I'm mostly happy about the announcement. The best part of vanilla has always been dungeons, so I'm glad they'll be front and center without the whole 'selling dungeon runs' thing that took over classic.

WoW Token was added to Classic Wrath, but not for Classic Era. I agree that it would trivialize Hardcore.

I think as long as the incentives to gear out your leveling character are so high, people will be buying gold in droves regardless of legality. Maybe they could do something like make it so only equipped items and no gold transfer with you when you die, that would probably help a fair bit.

There will be gold buying, absolutely. However, any gold digging operation will have to employ hardcore characters, which will probably make it much less profitable.

Yeah, hardcore fixes... quite a lot. Raiding will be much different. PvP will be much different. I'm excited.

By all accounts, raiding with permadeath can be thrilling. But also heartbreaking, as you can imagine!

Imagine Molten Core, but with permadeath! Man, killing Ragnaros would be a true achievement, with guilds mourning the deaths of ten of their members, but true spots opening up. Imagine surviving several raids and being a veteran, players deciding to try helping out or just getting the fuck out of dodge when things go sour, and having to deal with the repercussions of that.

I don't actually know if all of this happens, but the possibility is incredible.

I just don’t see hardcore limiting gold farming much more than making them more risk averse and thus a little slower. I’d love to be wrong though, I guess we’ll see.
