My friend and I were trying to remember if they ever finished KF2 before announcing 3, then we couldn't remember if they even finished KF1 before announcing 2.

I'm pretty sure KF2 came out of early access. KF1 was "finished" in that it was already a complete game on release with no early access period (which wasn't really a thing yet in 2009).

How was Killing Floor 2, by the way? I played a ton of KF1 back in the day and never got a sense of what KF2 changed or improved upon. Now that it's been out a few years, is it worth hopping in?

Better maps, better/more varied weapons (especially if you thought melee weapons sucked in KF1), more effective classes, etc. The bosses can be a lot more frustrating than KF1, though some are considerably easier to beat than others. Essentially the same deal as KF1 but improved. It's better to play with people you know instead of randoms, though, especially when it comes to the final bosses who are chosen at random.

I'm interested to see how it turns out as someone who played the first two games quite a bit for some time. Shame they didn't seem to have a release date or at least a time frame that I could see....

I just watched the trailer and there's no date, just "Wishlist now!"

Yeah I checked it a couple times on break and there doesn't seem to be one.
