I have mixed feelings about this game so far though.

A big part of Ori's appeal was its beautiful unique stylistic world, and this looks just like the same old generic dark gritty fantasy we've seen a million times before, especially in this genre. Not to say it looks bad (it really doesn't), it just doesn't evoke the same "wow" factor.

I trust them to make a good game, but I hope the whole world doesn't look like this.

Yeah I agree. I'm lukewarm about how the game looks even though I support the studio's decision to go with a different visual style. They named Soulslikes and Monster Hunter as some of their inspirations. Perhaps they felt that a more "commercial" look would be appropriate to capture those player bases. Or maybe they just didn't want to feel boxed in by the indie artsy aesthetic. That's A-OK, but I personally would been more excited by something that pushed the delightfully grotesque design of that first boss.

I don't mean to undermine the thoughtful choices that the devs made in game design. They studied other ARPGs and deliberately added elements (such as the stamina bar and replenishable "Focus" magic source) to keep the action but make it more tactical.

This is a new game being developed by Moon Studios, the developer behind Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. It's an ARPG style game which that tag is often associated with Diablo but as the title indicates, IGN sees it as more of a Dark Souls like game than Diablo. I personally haven't played either Diablo or Dark Souls so I can't really weigh in on that.

I love the artstyle and environment as it does seem fairly unique to me from this top down camera perspective and of course that is what I find was most compelling about the Ori games.

Here's a full video of gameplay for the first boss battle, but seeing as I hadn't seen any posts about this game on Tildes before I thought the other video was a better introduction.

My only experience with arpgs is Path of Exile which is a different beast than what I'd expect Moon Studios is making with this game. I'm a big fan of the Ori games so I assume I will like whatever Moon Studios ends up doing with this game.

This was the reveal trailer released a few months ago

Also I made the title the same as the Youtube title because I seemingly suck at making titles. I tried coming up with alternatives and they ended up seemingly overly wordy and clunky, so I'm not going to take offense if someone wants to change the title.
