Her friends were very confused when she talked about the game console using floppies, and she didn't know any different. Her dad was quite deep in the hacker community at the time.
His claim to unknown fame was inventing Direct To Garment printing in the early 90's. Rather than patenting the technique, he demonstrated it at a trade show and others ran with it and patented it. He was one of the OG "Information wants to be free" types so he was never bitter about it, merely annoyed that somebody patented what he wanted to be given freely.
