I don't think EVE is being open sourced, just the engine: Maybe time dilation and node reinforcement is part of that though. That would be neat. If it's their network code getting open sourced as...

As announced earlier this year, the company is planning to make its proprietary Carbon Development Platform – which encompasses the studio's Carbon Engine and other technology – an open source property, giving other developers their chance to get to grips with the same tools behind CCP's flagship title.
Maybe time dilation and node reinforcement is part of that though. That would be neat. If it's their network code getting open sourced as well I'm curious if they are still using stackless python. It seems pretty outdated nowadays, but I imagine moving away from it would be a major rewrite of a lot of stuff.

I think one of the most interesting things to me, as a non-player, is going to see the code that implements their time dialation.
