I personally treat early access games just like I would any other game purchase. Would I feel good about spending X amount of money for this game right now? If it's too plain or missing major...
I personally treat early access games just like I would any other game purchase. Would I feel good about spending X amount of money for this game right now? If it's too plain or missing major features then the answer would be no. But then there are games where even in EA are totally worth the money well before they release. As long as you don't buy a game on the promise of future updates, then you should be good.
Bringing it back to Against the Storm, I did indeed buy it in early access and got way more than my money's worth even before 1.0 released. Glad they're still adding more!
Good point; it's down to personal preference. I love it when people create games out of passion. So many good smaller titles that aren't banking on "buy because popular IP name".

That's the reason why I'm so averse to playing EA. I bought Valheim to show support, but putting it off until at least 1.0.
