Patch Rundown, courtesy of u/itsjieyang on Reddit

I have been taking a break from Overwatch for a few months after playing it fairly consistently for the first year and a half it was out, but "Wrecking Ball" is certainly a unique addition that I'll have to jump back in to check out. The patch notes have some good changes as well (I'm unsure about Sombra's changes though).

I've played Ham a good amount on the PTR, I can't wait to use him in Comp. So fun. I usually main D.Va in competitive matches, and he might replace her for me. He's a very versatile hero, and very mobile for a tank. His ult will be great for control and assault maps, but maybe not so much for payload matches (attacking, anyway).
My big worry is that this will jack up team selections for the next few weeks though. Even with LFG, most tank mains are probably going to try to insta-lock Ham, regardless of how well they can play him.

'Wrecking Ball'-mode will be great for knocking enemy players out of control points, and he can be used as a whirling ball of doom on maps like Volskaya and Hanamura where there's a central object in the center of the control-point to swing around. I anticipate people having to learn to dodge him to avoid being knocked off the edges of maps like Nepal or Ilios.
Other than that, his high mobility allows him to be a kind of flanker. Pop in, shoot up the place, grapple away to relocate, repeat. Much more maneuverable than D.Va I think, with a very satisfying DPS.
